Ricky Allen

The most successful Realtors build their business on repeat clients and referrals. Ricky Allen is committed to providing the necessary energy and enthusiasm in order to exceed expectations of a Realtor. Ricky has an extensive background in business and negotiations, and a real passion for real estate. He bought his first property in his early 20s, and has bought and sold within his own portfolio of real estate for over 30 years. Ricky has a wide range of real estate experience, from owning and managing international investment properties to possessing residential development experience. He not only has experience in 1031 tax-deferred exchanges, but he also has a keen eye for residential design components.

Ricky possesses a BS in Economics from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Washington University. However, his most valuable life lessons have come from his extensive international travels and interactions with many diverse cultures. He has traveled trading in precious gemstones in places such as Myanmar (Burma) and Sri Lanka.

Ricky's entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic began at an early age with a strong family influence. His grandfather immigrated from Poland in the early 1900s with only a backpack to his name and began peddling. A general store soon opened. Three generations later, the family company became one of the largest food service companies in the U.S.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Ricky has maintained his Midwestern family values and work ethic. Ricky and his wife, Cathy, have traveled the world near and far, yet have found no place as magical as Santa Fe. They have a beautiful horse ranch in Santa Fe where they ride and train Peruvian Paso horses.

Ricky has spent three winters at Vail Ski Resort, giving skiers the ultimate customer service and providing guided ski tours of the mountain. He also loves road biking, swimming, racquetball and squash. His other passions are cooking and enjoying red wine.

" We were so lucky to come across Ricky's name before being in Santa Fe to look at properties. From the first time we spoke he was professional, friendly, and genuinely interested in our story and helping us find a dream home. We were really taken care of between him and his team as they scheduled us many visits to properties, had lots of helpful insights to Santa Fe and the real estate market, and then were very responsive as we put in an offer and went through a challenging transaction! It was really easy to trust Ricky's guidance, which was crucial as we are 1) fairly new to buying real estate and 2) were not in Santa Fe throughout the transaction. We are so grateful for Ricky's help, knowledge, and negotiation skills!"

"Ricky has been a wonderful help to us through the whole process of viewing properties in Santa Fe. Once we found a home we liked, he patiently guided us through all the paper work and made sure we understood each step and what our options were. We always look forward to our visits with Ricky - his smiling face and positive attitude make working with him a pleasure! "

  -Ward, Client

" Ricky took lots of time walking us through entire home purchasing process, which we really appreciated as first time home buyers. We promptly received responses to our questions, and were able to get many viewings at relatively short notice, and on weeknights to accommodate our work schedule."

  -M Paff, Client

"I want to thank you for the outstanding effort you made to move this property. After 24 months on the market with only two half-hearted offers that didn't make it to the counteroffer state, I was beginning to lose hope. You had the listing for a month, got the property featured in The New York Times, and brought me two signed offers. You can be assured that Ricky Allen & Associates (and Sotheby's) will have my unqualified recommendation to all of my friends (including those at The Santa Fe Opera). "
